Smelly Ross

For those not on FB, the only news we have from Ross is that he is wearing the same clothes he has worn since he got there and has not had a shower for days. I told him it is a big change from the 3 or 4 LONG ones he used to take at home!!!! I can tell from his facebook that they have undergone some type of enemy fire at their camp. I also have realized he tells his siblings more details and then tells them NOT to tell Mom and Dad. He is protecting us because he knows how concerned we are. I guess in some ways that IS a blessing. He is really wanting mail so if you have time drop him a letter in the mail. Our prayer for him is Joshua 1:9

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. " It is a fitting prayer for all Christians, is it not??

Fathers, again

I WILL learn how to do this! Somehow I posted it before I wrote it!

I woke up thinking about my fathers. I am blessed to have an earthly father who has given me a wonderful picture of my heavenly father. Some people have no father at all or they have an absentee father, an alcoholic father, lazy father, selfish father, etc. yet I have 2 wonderful fathers. We just celebrated my earthly father's 80th Birthday. Of course, he will live forever, but his time on this earth has been all about bringing Glory to HIS Heavenly Father. I pray that he will continue to do so for many more years.

These are a few things my fathers have in common:

Faithfulness

Generosity

Sense of Humor

Steadfastness

Love

Unconditional love

Tenderness

Integrity

Grace

Honesty

Compassion

Goodness

Justice

Kindness

Strength

Patience

And I can call both of them Dad!!! I love you, Dad

Fathers

Facebook chat is awesome!

We talked to Ross on FB Chat yesterday. Kyle is off this week so it's been awesome that he is home and can talk to Ross. He really can't tell us much but he sounds good. They have a makeshift gym in a crate and he works out and has some 4 hour and sometimes 12 hour guard shifts. Other than that, he seems bored. I love boredom! I also now love technology! I prefer a good book to snuggle with but I must say, this is an awesome way to keep close to my children who, for some reason, have decided they must find their own lives away from us! Ross is at 8,000 ft. on top of a mountain and has a very hard time with the altitude. He said he has been very sick and can't run at all. They are telling them it may take 6 months to get fully acclimated.

Thank you all for your comments! I may not personally respond to them, but I read and reread them! We feel so much love and support. God Bless!

I set this up almost 3 years ago, but obviously never used it! I am going to use it now for those of you who want information about Ross so I don't have to e-mail everyone and give you more updates than you really want! Ha! It will also save me time! I may use it as a family blog also! Maybe our extended family would use it too! It would be great. For those of you that aren't very computer savvy - like ME- just type in the blog address (which you did to get here )and then put it in your FAVORITES so you can you just click on it when you wish to check it. If any of my family want to make this a family blog, e-mail me and I'll give you the password and then you will be able to write posts on it also. I think anyone can comment.

We heard from Ross briefly through facebook. This is all he said: He has arrived (I'm assuming Afghanistan - he couldn't say because computers are monitored) and they are sleeping in a shipping container. It is very hot and primitive. No showers. They are wearing full body armour and helmets and that is not very comforting to us, but it was great to hear just a tad bit of news. His address is: Ross Miller
C Co. 3/509 IN
FOB Boris
APO, AE 09311

You may send letters and I know he would love it. I do not know how often they will receive mail or be able to communicate. I did some research and found out you can call the following number and the USPO will send you free shipping kits. The number is : 1-800-610-8734. Ask for the Care Kit. They will send some small boxes, labels, tape, etc. and it is free. You can pay a flat fee at the Post Office also for boxes and then fill them for one price shipping- $10-20. depending on size of box. I have asked him what he needs and if I hear back from him, I'll post it on this blog. You cannot send obscene articles or pork or pork by-products or bulk quantities of religious materials contrary to the Islamic faith. You can however, send them for personal use only. I plan to send him a package this week (minus the Playboy and pork rinds) and I'll let you know if and when he receives it.

We love you all and so appreciate all of the intercessory prayers going up for Ross. Everyone else is enjoying Spring Break!

Jana
